OUR STORY OF GOD’S FAITHFULNESS

God has been writing a remarkable story at Lighthouse—and the next chapter begins now.

In March 2019, Lighthouse Church North County launched in the city of San Marcos through the passionate efforts of a dedicated launch team and the unmistakable call of God on our hearts. From the very beginning, we saw His favor as our church quickly grew into a family where everyone was welcomed and loved. We were filled with excitement for the future—until an unexpected global pandemic forced us to pause our Sunday gatherings indefinitely.

Pastoring through a pandemic was not part of anyone’s vision board, and there were moments when it felt like Lighthouse might not survive. But in the fall of 2020, God began to write a miracle into our story: the purchase of our new home at 342 Eucalyptus Avenue in Vista, CA. No longer would we be a portable church! I will never forget the joy of announcing this miracle at our Heart & Soul gathering that November. By February 2021, we were worshiping together again—this time in a tent on our very own property.

BUILDING AND GROWING THROUGH CHALLENGES

What we could not foresee were the many challenges that would follow as we navigated renovations and city approvals. Yet Lighthouse has never backed down from a challenge. Every setback became a stepping stone, and by God’s grace we pressed forward.

Today, we celebrate the completed renovation of our sanctuary and look forward to opening our brand-new Lighthouse Kids building soon. Significant improvements have also been made to the exterior of our property, and while much has been accomplished, there is still more to do.

Even greater than the progress on our building is what God is doing in the hearts of His people. Every week, lives are being saved, healed, and restored. Nearly 500 people now gather each Sunday—even in the middle of construction. Truly, nothing can stop the move of God.

LIGHTING UP THE CITY TOGETHER

Now, we sense the Lord leading us into a new season—one we are calling Light Up The City. Inspired by Isaiah 60:1, this is more than a campaign; it is a call to arise, shine, and reflect God’s glory in Vista and throughout North County. Together, we will finish the work we’ve begun, expand our reach, and create a place where more people can encounter Jesus.

This journey is a call to full engagement and growing generosity. Because of your prayers and your giving, children will discover Jesus in our Lighthouse Kids ministry, families will find hope, and countless people will experience the life-changing power of God.

YOUR PART IN THE STORY

We invite you to prayerfully consider how you can participate—whether through giving, serving, or sharing the vision. Your faithfulness today will leave a legacy for generations to come.

Joanna and I love you deeply, and we cannot wait to see what God will do as we join together to Light Up The City.

With love and expectation,
Pastor Josh & Joanna Herrera

OUR GOALS

As God leads us on this two-year discipleship journey, what would it mean for your generosity if you were to awaken your understanding of who God is and respond with an eternal perspective?

While God has significantly blessed and equipped our church for this moment, this is not about Lighthouse Church. This is about Jesus and His power at work within each of us.

PRIMARY GOAL

GROWTH TRACK

Growth Track is your next step to discover purpose and get connected. Learn about our vision, find community, and use your gifts to make a difference.

DREAM TEAM

The Dream Team is a group of people who use their gifts and passions to serve others and build the church. From greeting guests to leading worship, every role helps make a difference and brings the vision of the church to life.

ROOTED GROUPS

Rooted Groups are where faith and community grow together. In these small groups, you’ll build meaningful relationships, deepen your walk with God, and find support as you live out your faith in everyday life.

SECONDARY GOAL

Secondly, this is an invitation for a generous commitment of $900,000 to propel Kingdom-centered initiatives
in the coming years. We want to equip future generations by how we make a difference in the church today.

WHAT IS GOD DOING IN US?

Stories are an important part of how we connect with what God is doing in and through us at Lighthouse Church North County. Check out this collection of stories to see how your generosity is making a difference in our church, city, and in the world.

HOW THIS WORKS

Light Up The City is a two-year journey. During these two years, every gift given to Lighthouse Church North County will be used both to continue our ongoing ministries and to invest in the vision God has given us for the future. Both priorities will be part of a single budget, set by the elders, in response to commitments we make during Light Up The City initiative.

WHAT’S NEXT?

We’re asking you to join us on a spiritual journey with God, to take the largest step of generosity you’ve ever taken, as we move together to take the largest step of faith we’ve ever taken.

PRAY

Pray that God would multiply our efforts to make disciples and make an impact for the Kingdom in such a time as this. Pray that He would do the impossible.

COMMIT

Fully commit to what God wants to do in you and through you during this season in our church. Devote the next season to letting God develop commitment, vision and generosity in your life.

GIVE

Ask God to begin to reveal to you what it looks like to give in a way that changes you and take whatever bold steps are required to see it through.

READY TO COMMIT TO THE VISION?

This is a special moment in our church’s history. What God is doing is truly miraculous. We believe He will still move in mighty ways and is asking us to join Him, challenging us to expand our vision and deepen our impact.
